Yes: banks, asset managers and payment companies use Solana, mostly to issue funds, stablecoins and tokenized debt, or to settle in USDC. As of October 16, 2026, Franklin Templeton, State Street, J.P. Morgan, SoFi Bank, Société Générale-FORGE, Visa, PayPal and Western Union, among others, have their own primary sources. The table shows who does what, and since when.
The verified list: who uses Solana and for what
An entity is listed only if it has a primary source: an announcement or document from the entity itself, the issuer or the agent that tokenizes its asset (as Securitize does for BlackRock and Apollo), or an entry in an official register. Names that only show up in search summaries or exchange blogs, without that source, are left out.
We separate two roles that those summaries tend to blur:
- Issuing on Solana: the asset (a fund share, a stablecoin, commercial paper, a stock) is created on the network.
- Accepting or integrating Solana: the entity uses the network to get paid or to settle, but issues nothing on it.
Dates are those of the cited announcement. They do not always match the first transaction.

For scale, according to rwa.xyz, as of October 16, 2026, Solana held USD 4.39 billion in "distributed" tokenized real-world assets (those that can leave the issuing platform and move between wallets) and USD 15.02 billion in stablecoins.
Are banks using Solana?
Yes, in different roles. Keeping them apart stops a proof of concept from being read as a product.
- Banks that issue. SoFi Bank, N.A. issues SoFiUSD, a dollar stablecoin available on Ethereum and Solana. Its May 27, 2026 announcement calls it the first stablecoin issued by a US national bank to be available in a banking app. Anchorage Digital Bank issues USDPT, Western Union's stablecoin built on Solana and launched on May 4, 2026.
- European banks that issue. Bison Bank, a credit institution supervised by Banco de Portugal, notified on March 12, 2026 the white paper for EUB, a euro e-money token issued on Solana. Société Générale-FORGE, a subsidiary of the Société Générale group, offers its EURCV on the network.
- Banks that arrange or manage. On December 11, 2025, J.P. Morgan arranged a Galaxy commercial paper issuance on Solana. Galaxy acted as structurer, and the buyers were Coinbase and Franklin Templeton. State Street launched the SWEEP fund on Solana with Galaxy on May 5, 2026.
- Banks that settle. Cross River Bank and Lead Bank settle with Visa in USDC over Solana, according to Visa's December 16, 2025 announcement.
- Banks that test. Citi completed an internal proof of concept of a tokenized bill of exchange with PwC and Solana, in a simulated environment on a private permissioned chain with no real clients. It describes it in its February 2026 Citi GPS report. It is not a live transaction.
No Spanish bank is on this list. ESMA's register of e-money token issuers (file updated October 7, 2026) includes no issuer supervised in Spain.
Asset managers: tokenized funds with a share class or token on Solana
Asset managers are the largest group. Almost all of them use Solana as one network among several, not as the only one.
- BlackRock BUIDL. Securitize launched a new share class of the fund on Solana on March 25, 2025. Shares can move across networks through Wormhole.
- Franklin Templeton (FOBXX / BENJI). The fund's Statement of Additional Information (August 1, 2026) says Stellar is the primary network and that the fund may also use Solana and six other networks for certain accounts, upon request and subject to eligibility.
- State Street and Galaxy (SWEEP). A tokenized liquidity fund launched on Solana on May 5, 2026. Only Qualified Purchasers can invest, and subscriptions are made in PYUSD.
- Apollo (ACRED). A credit access fund tokenized by Securitize, available since January 30, 2025 on Aptos, Avalanche, Ethereum, Ink, Polygon and Solana. Only qualifying investors, through Securitize's broker-dealer.
- WisdomTree. Since January 28, 2026, its full suite of tokenized funds can be minted directly on Solana. Subscriptions and redemptions support conversion from USDC and PYUSD.
Three patterns repeat. Access is limited to qualified or eligible investors. The network is one of several. And subscriptions or redemptions settle in stablecoins. In Europe, a fund like this goes through UCITS, AIF or ELTIF rules, and through the DLT Pilot Regime if it trades on a DLT infrastructure. We cover it in tokenized funds in Europe.
Stablecoins and payments: who issues and who only integrates
This is where roles get mixed up the most. A stablecoin is issued on Solana; a payment in that stablecoin is accepted or settled on Solana.
Issuing on Solana:
- Circle: USDC and EURC. EURC arrived on the network on December 18, 2023. In the EU, Circle Internet Financial Europe SAS is listed in ESMA's register as an e-money token issuer.
- PayPal: PYUSD has been on Solana since May 29, 2024. It is issued by Paxos Trust Company, not by PayPal.
- Western Union: USDPT, issued by Anchorage Digital Bank and built on Solana.
- SoFi Bank: SoFiUSD, on Ethereum and Solana.
- Société Générale-FORGE and Bison Bank: EURCV, EUB and USB, which are e-money tokens (EMTs) with a white paper notified under MiCA.
Accepting or settling on Solana:
- Visa: settles with Cross River Bank and Lead Bank in USDC over Solana. Visa does not issue the stablecoin; it uses it to settle.
- Stripe: its stablecoin payment method accepts USDC on the Tempo, Ethereum, Solana, Polygon and Base networks. Completed payments settle in the merchant's Stripe balance in its local currency.
Which stablecoins run on the network, who issues them and which ones have an issuer in ESMA's register is covered in stablecoins on Solana and what MiCA requires.
Tokenized debt and stocks
- Galaxy commercial paper (J.P. Morgan). J.P. Morgan describes it as one of the first debt issuances executed on a public blockchain. Issuance and redemption proceeds are paid in USDC, according to the announcement.
- Securitize (SECZ). On its listing day (July 2, 2026), it announced that its stock would launch in tokenized form on Avalanche and Solana, for eligible US investors only and through its regulated platform.
- xStocks (Backed). US stocks and ETFs tokenized as SPL tokens, announced on May 22, 2025. Backed does not sell them to US Persons.
- Ondo Stocks. On January 21, 2026, Ondo brought 200+ tokenized US stocks and ETFs to Solana.
These are US securities. In the EU, a token that is a financial instrument falls outside MiCA (Art. 2(4)(a)) and under MiFID II and, in Spain, Law 6/2023. We explain where the line sits in MiCA vs MiFID II, and how it works for a real asset in tokenizing real-world assets on Solana.
Issuing on Solana is not the same as accepting Solana
This is not a nuance. It changes the legal regime, who is liable and what needs to be reviewed.
| Role | What it means | Verified examples | What gets reviewed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Issue | The asset is created on Solana and the issuer is liable for it | BlackRock, WisdomTree, Circle, SoFi Bank, Bison Bank | The asset's regime (MiCA, MiFID II, Law 6/2023), holder register and token controls |
| Arrange or structure | A bank sets up the deal for an issuer | J.P. Morgan with Galaxy's commercial paper | Offering documents and each party's role |
| Settle | The network moves money between institutions | Visa with Cross River Bank and Lead Bank | Operational risk, settlement windows and reconciliation |
| Accept payments | A merchant gets paid in a stablecoin that runs on Solana | Stripe | Payment provider, accounting and anti-money laundering |
| Test | A proof of concept with no production effect | Citi | Nothing to integrate yet |
Names that circulate but are not on the list
Some names appear in search summaries, but we could not confirm them with a readable announcement of their own, or they remain at the announcement stage:
- Shopify: we could not find an announcement from Shopify itself about Solana.
- Fiserv: we could not read the original announcement or confirm that the product is live.
- VanEck (VBILL): we only found reprints of the announcement, not the original from VanEck or Securitize.
- Galaxy's tokenized shares (GLXY) and R3: the original announcements were not accessible when we checked.
If their primary source turns up, they will be added at the next review.
What it means for a Spanish company
None of this makes Solana an "authorized" network. MiCA starts from technology neutrality (recital 9): it regulates the asset and whoever issues or offers it, not the network. No network complies with Spain's Law 6/2023 on its own.
What these cases do show is how a regulated issuance is built on a public network:
- There is always a regulated entity in the middle. A bank, an e-money institution, a transfer agent or a registered broker-dealer.
- Access is restricted in the token itself. Qualified Purchasers in SWEEP, eligible investors in SECZ, no US Persons in xStocks and an access list on Bison Bank's EUB.
- Solana is usually one network among several. ACRED is on six networks, SoFiUSD on two and SECZ on two.
- Settlement happens in stablecoins. USDC for Galaxy's commercial paper and PYUSD for SWEEP subscriptions.
For a company in Spain, this translates as follows:
- If the token is a transferable security, Law 6/2023 allows it to be represented on distributed ledgers (Art. 6(1)), but the issuer must appoint an ERIR and apply MiFID II.
- If it is a stablecoin pegged to the euro or another official currency, it is an EMT. The issuer must be a credit institution or an e-money institution (Art. 48(1) MiCA). In Spain, Banco de España supervises these issuers (Art. 251(h) of Law 6/2023).
- If you only plan to get paid or settle in stablecoins, the focus is on the payment provider, accounting and anti-money laundering, not on issuing.
And the network carries risks that a committee should see in writing:
- Six outages or severe degradations between 2021 and 2024. The last recorded mainnet halt was on February 6, 2024.
- Stake concentration: as of October 16, 2026, 18 validators held more than one third of the stake (our own calculation from the public RPC).
- A consensus change: the Solana Foundation set the activation of Alpenglow for epoch 1064, expected on October 21, 2026. It requires indexing changes, so confirm its status before integrating.
- Issuer powers in Token-2022 (permanent delegate, pause, accounts frozen by default). For a regulated security they are compliance tools; for the investor, a counterparty risk that should be disclosed in the offering documents.
How we approach it: on a project like this we review which regime applies to the asset, which Token-2022 extensions cover each obligation, who the regulated entity is and how it connects to the network. That is the Solana development work we do alongside your legal counsel. If you are starting from scratch, begin with what Solana is and what tokenized real-world assets (RWA) are.
Frequently asked questions
Are banks using Solana?
Yes. SoFi Bank issues SoFiUSD on Solana and Anchorage Digital Bank issues USDPT for Western Union. In Europe, Bison Bank issues EUB and Société Générale-FORGE offers EURCV on the network. J.P. Morgan arranged a commercial paper issuance on Solana, and State Street runs the SWEEP fund with Galaxy. Citi has only run an internal proof of concept.
Which companies use Solana?
With a primary source, as of October 16, 2026: asset managers (BlackRock and Apollo, per Securitize announcements; Franklin Templeton, WisdomTree, State Street and Galaxy), stablecoin issuers (Circle, Paxos for PayPal, Anchorage for Western Union, SoFi Bank, SG-FORGE, Bison Bank), tokenized stock issuers (Backed, Ondo, Securitize) and payment companies that settle or accept USDC on Solana (Visa, Stripe).
Does Visa use Solana?
Yes, for settlement. According to its December 16, 2025 announcement, Cross River Bank and Lead Bank settle with Visa in USDC over Solana. Visa does not issue any token on the network.
Are European banks using Solana?
Yes. Bison Bank (Portugal) issues the EUB and USB e-money tokens on Solana, and Société Générale-FORGE offers EURCV on the network. Both are listed in ESMA's register of EMT issuers. None of the issuers in that register is supervised in Spain.
Does this mean Solana is MiCA-compliant?
No. MiCA does not certify networks. It applies to the crypto-asset and to whoever issues it, offers it or provides services on it. If the token is a transferable security, MiFID II and Spain's Law 6/2023, with its ERIR, apply instead of MiCA.
