Argentina runs one of the most active tokenization frameworks in Latin America: the CNV has built a specific regime for the digital representation of securities, with a regulatory sandbox and successive expansions through 2025 and 2026. For an issuer that means something rare in the region: written rules, a receptive supervisor and real precedents.
The CNV tokenization regime
The Comisión Nacional de Valores approved a tokenization regime allowing the digital representation of securities on blockchain, and has kept expanding it: shares (including dual-listed ones), corporate bonds (obligaciones negociables), participation certificates of financial trusts (fideicomisos), closed-end fund shares and CEDEARs. Issuances lean on a regulatory sandbox whose windows have been extended by successive resolutions — issuances made within the window keep their validity afterwards.
The role of PSAVs
Registered Virtual Asset Service Providers (Law 27,739, supervised by the CNV) are the operational piece: they market digitally represented securities and take on administration and custody of the digital environment. It is a different architecture from Spains (where the registry anchor is the ERIR), but with the same logic: a regulated entity answers for the register.
What can be tokenized, and through which vehicle
The menu is broad: equity, corporate debt and — highly relevant for the country — financial fideicomisos, Argentinas classic securitisation vehicle, whose participation certificates now admit digital representation. That connects tokenization to the real economy: agriculture, real estate and credit.
How we work with Argentine issuers
From Spain, with the same method we apply under the CNMV: asset classification, vehicle selection, and the seven-layer platform a serious issuance requires — registry, identity, transfer restrictions, custody. The local regulatory layer is handled with counsel in-country; the infrastructure, token standard and operations are our terrain. The full regional map is in asset tokenization in Latin America.
