WHAT IS IT? · FOR DUMMIES Your digital identity in the crypto world is like a virtual card. You don't need to show your real name or a photo: your wallet, your tokens, your NFTs and your blockchain history speak for you. Just as in the real world you use an ID or passport, in Web3 you can have an identity based on your address, your interactions and your achievements. It allows you to show who you are without revealing personal details. WHAT IS IT? · PRO Digital identity in Web3 environments is a structured, verifiable and self-sovereign representation of an individual or entity, composed of elements such as the wallet address, **verifiable credentials (VCs)**, **Reputable NFTs**, **ENS (Ethereum Name Service)**, **DIDs (Decentralized Identifiers)** and in some cases, **Soulbound Tokens (SBTs)**. Unlike Web2 systems based on centralized accounts and servers, digital identity in Web3 is built on blockchain and decentralized identity standards, where control lies with the user himself (self-sovereign identity). This identity allows you to demonstrate achievements, memberships, credit history or reputation without exposing private information, as it is backed up by verifiable cryptographic signatures. Technologies such as **DID + VC** (from the W3C), **ENS for legible names**, and SBTs (non-transferable tokens linked to identity) make it possible to compose a robust and transparent digital profile. In addition, this identity can evolve dynamically over time, allowing reputations to be built within communities, DAOs, DeFi platforms, or Web3 gaming ecosystems. Digital identity is also key to voting systems, access to exclusive content, cross-chain interoperability, and regulatory compliance (KYC/KYB) without compromising user privacy.
